Being involved in Marine Tourism, first and foremost we look for staff who have a desire to provide excellent Customer Service. 

Employment Opportunities exist for Australian Residents or Travellers who hold a Working Holiday Visa. 

For new staff, the minimum requirement is to undertake a basic Marine Induction course, which covers Basic Shipboard Safety, Rope Handling, First Aid.

Deckhands are required to hold a restricted Coxswain Ticket, which includes 90 days local seatime. This level ticket allows for transfer of passengers to/from the mothership using the tender.

Skippers requirements: Southern Cross is a Master V, our Maxi Yachts are dual ticketed Master V & Marine Engine Driver III.  Solway Lass and Whitsunday Magic are Master IV & Marine Engine Driver III.

Given the Racing/Maxi Yachts are all rigged with Running Rigging, it is desirable for new employees to have Experience with Running Rigging.

For our Tall Ship Solway Lass, crew can start in the Bar and work their way up, to Deck Hand, and Boatswain in charge of the Deck and Traditional Square Rig Sail Management.

For Whitsunday Magic, as our more upmarket product we are looking for higher levels of customer service skills.  Hospitality, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage skills are also looked on highly.
