What to Pack
Please pack in a soft small bag. We suggest: swimmers, beach towel, sunscreen, lip balm, sunglasses, hat, jacket or sweater, sandals/joggers/thongs for island walk, toiletries, and any prescribed medicines. There are no shops around the islands, so please pick up important items or treats before arriving at the marina.
(1 dive) Diving is available when we meet up with our rendezvous dive boat Tornado. Whether you are a certified diver or a first time diver, we offer all guests the opportunity to discover the underwater world. With multiple dive locations available, we have the ability to move to the best diving spot on the day. You can pre book a dive at the Explore Whitsundays office in Airlie Beach, or organize with the crew on tour. To guarantee availability we advise pre booking your dive before departure.
British Defender is a BYO vessel, this means you are able to bring your own alcohol onto the tour (no glass or red wine). Drinking water is included throughout your tour, however soft drinks are available for purchase on board. The crew will keep a tab and you can pay at the end of your tour.
Don't worry, we supply swimming noodles and additional floatation as required. We will do a risk assessment on every guest before entering the water. While in the water the small tender will be relatively close by. We also have staff on look-out duty. In the Whitsundays, the reefs we visit are off the beaches, so it is pretty easy to make way to the beach.
Large bags cannot be taken on-board. Storage services are available in Airlie Beach for a fee, generally around $5.
Guests can park vehicles at Abell Point Marina. It is a Pay and Display car park with the fee of $8.00 per day, payable by coins or credit card.
British Defender Boat Plan - Maxi's are spacious inside with around 2 metres head room through the main sections of the yacht. Accommodation is open plan, dormitory style with single or double bunks available. British Defender has 3 bathrooms and in 2017 Air Conditioning was installed. British Defender is a great yacht to sail the Whitsundays.

Hello! It's almost 3 months since we've got home from our Australia-trip, but we still dream about our sailing adventure and great experience from "British defender" in January! Thank you so much for your fantastic work! We had technical problems when "Boomerang" couldn't make it and we had to switch to "British defender". This took some time, but you sertenly made it up to us: extra hours out on the sea, a personal pick-up by your manager and some money back! This was so proffessional that we told everyone we met to go on one of your boats if they had the possibility!! Thanks once more!

Thanks for the best time ever on British Defender, 9-12 Oct 2003! It was definately one of the best things I have done since being in Australia. Thanks to the friendly staff - Brendon, Simon, Zane and Maria, lovely food and a great laugh! Cheers

Hi, i was on the British Defender 4-6 December 2003. It was without doubt the most exhilerating, fantastic, unbelievable experience of my life enhanced by the fantastic crew (dave, marcus, Zane, and Pete), food, and the rest of travellers on board. I was only in australia for 3 weeks and only in airlie beach for 5 days but i can honestly say i would recommend anybody to have a go and i can't wait to come back and do it all again.
